Billy Marshall-Stoneking
Billy Marshall Stoneking : Stoneking is writer/producer, mentor/script editor, a graduate of the Australian Film Television and Radio School (1983), and the author of seven books, including the modern-day Australian classic, SINGING THE SNAKE. From 2001 to the end of 2007 he was a member of staff (screenwriting) at AFTRS.
Stoneking's screenwriting and playwriting credits include the award-winning Australian drama series, STRINGER, which he created and wrote, Paramount Television's, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, and the internationally acclaimed stage playm SIXTEEN WORDS FOR WATER. He has also written and produced several documentaries, including CALL IT POETRY (ABC-TV), NOSEPEG'S MOVIE (ABC-TV) and DESERT STORIES SBS TV), which details his work and experiences during four years living at Papunya Aboriginal Settlement in the Northern Territory.
He is also the writer/producer of the soon-to-be-released feature film, SEEING THE ELEPHANT, and co-producer of the forthcoming feature documentary WAKING THE MARTYRS, which chronicles the dramatic and remarkable journey of a diverse group of Iranian pilgrims days before the controversial election of 2009.
Stoneking's script editing credits include two Academy-Award-nominated shorts, Andrew Dominic's feature film, CHOPPER, and Maya Newell's critically acclaimed documentaries RICHARD and TWO. He was also script editor on the SBS-TV series, THE MAGICIAN (Scott Ryan, writer) and Darlene Johnson's film, CROCODILE DREAMING. His every-popular and very dramatic screenwriting and filmmaking seminars and workshops have been presented throughout Australia and New Zealand.
